Diabetes Specialist Dietitian

This is an exciting opportunity for an HCPC Registered Diabetes Specialist Dietitian to join our team. We are looking for either an experienced Diabetes Specialist Dietitian or a B6 qualified Dietitian with an interest in developing the skills and expertise in delivering diabetes care. Experience and passion for delivering group education to patients and staff will be an essential component of this post.

You will be an integral and valued part of the Community Diabetes MDT which consists of a large team of diabetes specialist: Nurses, Dietitians, Podiatrists, Diabetes psychological wellbeing practitioners and diabetes specialist support workers with strong links, support and leadership from secondary care consultants.

We will provide opportunities to develop knowledge and skills in diabetes in a supported learning environment.

The post involves supporting adults with type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes in both one to one and group settings. The focus is on enabling people with diabetes to remain healthy by working collaboratively to promote self-management and avoid acute and long term complications of diabetes.

A passion for delivering structured education is essential. We are proud to be an established DAFNE centre, we also deliver the DESMOND education programme for newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes and several in house workshops for pre existing diabetes.

NHFT is an integrated primary care and mental health Trust, providing physical, mental health and specialty services in both hospital settings and out in the community. Because we put the person at the centre of all we do, we focus on delivering care that is as easy to access as possible. This means many of our services can be provided at home, work or in schools. We also provide health services to various prisons and detention centres in Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.
