Your new role
We are excited to offer the opportunity for an experienced leader to join our wonderful school and work with our exceptional students who experience a range of needs including SEMH and ASD. The appointed person will lead our KS2 and Nurture provision as aninspiring and dedicated Assistant Head of Education.
Responsibilities will include providing all teachers with an example of the commitment required to achieve excellence and continuous school improvement. For example you will have an overview of:
- learners' progress, achievement and behaviour
- any risks and barriers to learning
- staffing within their Key Stage, including any performance issues
- curriculum and timetabling
- parental liaison
- learner documentation
We are seeking someone who thrives on working in a challenging but immensely rewarding environment, who are passionate about the development of our pupils and who truly want to make a difference to the lives of young people. Previous experience working withinSEN is not essential, however you will need to have the ability to motivate and effectively communicate with children who have SEMH.
Your new school
We are an Ofsted Outstanding independent 38 week specialist boarding and day provision for boys and girls aged between 5 and 19 with social, emotional and mental health difficulties. We have a person-centred focus, providing each child with a personalised educationand care programme tailored to help meet their unique needs. The key to the success of the school is a strong ethos, developed by a highly experienced and capable staff, and the strength of the relationships between the staff and the students.
- experience as a successful Middle Leader
- proven track record of providing direction, inspiration and strong leadership to staff
- demonstrated outstanding, sustained and successful experience as a teacher (preferably in a SEN environment)
- demonstrated the ability to work strategically and successfully at a middle or senior leadership team level (desirable)
- an in depth knowledge of the KS2 and Nurture curriculum and the range of qualifications that meet the needs of individual learners
- an in depth knowledge and understanding of students with SEMH needs
- a sense of humour
