Additional subspecialty expertise is desirable (such as in regional anaesthesia, perioperative medicine, obstetric or paediatric anaesthesia) as are wider skills in service improvement, audit and governance, research, medical education, management and leadership.

We are one of the first departments in the country to undergo and complete ACSA reaccreditation successfully, and the hospital is part of the Building a Brighter Future wave of major rebuild and refurbishment, which is expected to include a new theatres build and will place a transformative digital environment at the heart of patient care. We have a state-of-the-art 14 bedded intensive care unit.

For new substantive consultants the job plan for this 10pa post will initially include 2.5 SPAs.

Applicants are required to be on the GMC Specialist Register, or within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT/EU equivalent certification at the time of interview. Applications are welcomed from those unable to work full-time for personal reasons or those wishing to job-share.
