Job description

We are looking to recruit a Production Operative based at out Stoke site.

The production operative works on shift in a team of 10 people, running a single multi-stage production line. The site operates 24hrs, Monday to Friday. Shift patterns vary according to the department but typically include:

- Week 1- Monday to Friday 06.00am 14.00pm (rotating)

Week 2 - Monday to Friday 14.00pm - 22.00pm (rotating)

The starting hourly rate of pay for this position is £12.35 with an additional 5% shift allowance.

The hourly rate will increase as additional skill base knowledge progresses.

All employees are expected to arrive on site 10 minutes before the hour for a shift handover. Overtime is available and a reasonable level of overtime working to cover absence, training and other business needs is expected.

Shifts are led by a supervisor and are supported by a quality technician and engineering staff. The Production process is a single continual chemical processing line, dosing materials into the machine, converting from liquid to solid state, followed by a cutting, sawing and packing line.

Operators interface with machinery predominantly via control panels, at all stages of the production process, but there is also a need to physically intervene in the process, observing relevant procedures.

**SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES**:
**Education level & general experience**:
A good level of numeracy and literacy is essential - A Level or equivalent in Maths and English is preferred.

Previous experience of working in an environment certified to ISO9001, ISO14001, BBA, or similar is required.

NVQ’s relating to manufacturing are desirable.

Experience working in a shift role

Experience working in a continuous process manufacturing environment.

Experience working in a chemical environment.

Experience working with MRP packages such as SAP would be an advantage.

Experience working with SPC would be a great advantage.

There is a strong emphasis on process control, understanding all stages of the Production line and how each stage impacts the next. This is a skilled role that requires a mature and measured approach, as well as technical integration.

**Technical knowledge/ expertise**:
Ability to follow, and/or create work instructions and SOP’s.

Competent working with Microsoft Office packages -‘Word’ and ‘Excel’.

Use of Continuous Improvement tools and techniques - E.G. Basic process flows, SPC, Six Sigma Green Belt or similar.

Experience of software Preventative Maintenance TPM packages.

**Competencies**

Flexibility is essential - the team relies on each other for seamless delivery of KPI’s in event of skills, holidays, O/T and training support.

Focus on KPI’s minute to minute, hour to hour, day to day.

Ability to retain attention to detail for extended periods of time in a busy manufacturing environment.

Understand the concept, and deliver the needs and expectations of the Customer (Internal and external).

Work with facts and data.
