Health and Justice Services part of the Specialist Service Care Group for GMMH are looking to recruit a committed and dynamic Assistant psychologist to join the mental health team within HMP Risley.
The team comprises of multi-disciplinary professional’s providing mental health support to men across the prison site. We are seeking an assistant psychologist to support the team and wider prison establishment in providing a strong psychological and formulation driven understanding of mental health, emotional distress and trauma responses.
The post holder would be expected to work closely with the clinical psychologists and PWP staff and hold a caseload of clients providing detailed assessments, formulations, intervention and therapy under clinical supervision.
- To work with the clinical psychologist to complete detailed psychological assessments, formulations and to offer interventions, both group and individual, to service-users who reside at HMP Risley.
- To contribute to specialist assessments to inform ongoing care.
- To support psychological perspectives and trauma informed understandings to the mental health team and wider establishment.
- To develop strong working relationships with partnership agencies and stakeholders to support safe and effective collaboration and management of risk.
- To work within the stepped-care model of mental health provision.

To work with service-users and others involved in their care to support improved psychological health and well-being.

To complete psychological assessments to inform clinical formulations and contribute to risk management, under supervision of the clinical psychologists.

To provide psychological interventions in the form of group and individual therapies under clinical supervision.

To contribute to multi-disciplinary discussion and offer psychological opinion and understanding of service-user presentation.

To promote a developed and applied understanding of mental health presentation, which will include psychological understandings of personality and trauma responses.

To support the development of trauma-informed ways of working across the mental health team and wider prison establishments.

To contribute to effective risk management strategies and service evaluation.

Pay Enhancements - 30% additional for Evenings (8pm onwards) and Saturdays and 60% additional for Sundays and Bank holidays.
