**Mechanical Design Engineer : Workington**

MacArthur Recruitment are working for a UK based engineering and construction organisation who are seeking, due to growth, retirement and future opportunity, **two skilled Mechanical Design Engineers in West Cumbria**. This is an opportunity for you to develop your skills and career with this company. The purpose of this role is to make a significant contribution to the design engineering of multidisciplinaryprojects of varying depth; working in 2D and 3D.
**Overview of the Mechanical Design Engineer role**:

- To provide design and project estimates, specifications, layouts and other tender documents to enable project tenders and sales submissions to be made to prospective customers and project variation proposals for existing customers.
- Ensure the design and project output can be manufactured / realised economically (value engineered) and installed, used and maintained safely to ensure the customer’s requirements are satisfied.
- Officially liaise/enquire to, and meet with prospective suppliers of goods and services, evaluation of offers, provision of purchase specifications
- Actively work to the companies Health and Safety policies and culture.
- Deliver work to office Quality systems and to monitor, forecast and control their aspects of a project.
- Completion of a Bill of Materials
- Liaise with manufacturers, organise and or carry our inspection and expediting activities
- Set up, control and be responsible for the safe, efficient and timely erection and commissioning of plant and equipment both within workshop assembly and at customers site.
- Incorporation of as built modifications within the final project document packages.
- Work individually or as part a team - engineers, bid or project team
- Positively undertake continuous self - development to improve the success of the whole team.
- To act as the Lead Engineer as requested / appropriate.

**Your background for the Mechanical Design Engineer role**:

- BEng, Meng, CEng, HND - Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent qualification - essential
- Good knowledge of AutoCAD and AutoDesk Inventor - essential
- Member of a relevant professional institute would be a bonus
- Experience in designing equipment for the nuclear sector or other heavy engineering areas - essential
- To be aware of and able to practice cost value engineering - essential
- Experience of working with a team of design engineers delivering projects within budget and time - essential
- Experience within heavy industry, designing and manufacturing bespoke equipment - desirable
- Experience within an equipment design environment - desirable
- Practical problem-solving attitude
