**Job Overview**

The main aim of the role working as a Mitie PRM Banksman at Birmingham Airport is to be part of a 2-person team providing a portable lift for passengers who cannot use steps on an aircraft. Your 2-person team will consist of yourself and a driver. You will be trained to safely guide, by use of hand signals, airside vehicles on and off of aircrafts within a 2-foot distance from the aircraft door. It will be your duty to ensure any People with Reduced Mobility and companions are safe throughout their journey in our vehicles.

You will also:

- Escort departing/arriving passengers as directed from check-in area through to departures lounge using wheelchairs or electric buggy and then onto aircraft gate for boarding when required
- Operate the body/ tailift of ambulift vehicles and assist with passengers.
- Aiding with baggage for PRM passengers
- Ensuring that wheelchairs and buggies are always clean and tidy.
- Safely isolate electric mobility aids and sign off relevant paperwork for safe air travel
- Ensure that the allocator is updated on progress by use of AvTech PDAs
- Ensure all paperwork is completed and submitted in a timely manner
- Provide assistance to passengers travelling with assistance animals when required.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

- Previous experience of working in a care giving capacity would be an advantage, but full training will be provided.
- Able to cope with a fast paced and vibrant airport environment.
- Excellent communication skills with an empathic nature.
- Must be able to lift passengers in accordance with manual handling guidelines.
- Preferably to hold a Full UK Driving License (not essential)
- Be able to walk long distances while pushing or pulling a heavy load

To meet security requirements, you will need:

- A full 5 year checkable reference history is essential
- The ability to pass a basic Criminal Record Check / DBS
- The Right to Work in the UK
