Oxford, United Kingdom University of Oxford Full time

Would you like to support the next generation of leaders in the social sciences?

The Social Sciences Division is looking for a
**Placements and Professional Skills Coordinator** to support in developing the ‘Research-in-Practice’ programme for the new phase of the Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP). This new role will be key in delivering the training requirements for the DTP as it continues into its next phase with funding recently awarded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC).

The DTP supports graduate funding for approximately 45 social science students per year across the three partner institutions (University of Oxford, the Open University and Brunel University London), also providing opportunities to develop skills that will support students’ professional development as the social science leaders of the future.

As DTP Placements and Professional Skills Coordinator, you will work with students to help them identify and plan their placements in academia, policy, business or a third sector organisation, as well as supporting them in accessing training to prepare for academic and non-academic careers through the DTP’s professional skills training programme. You will also work externally to build and maintain relevant networks with prospective academic and non-academic partner organisations to generate collaborative opportunities, including engagement in delivery of training and placements.

Based in the friendly and committed Social Sciences Education Team at the University of Oxford, you will work closely with the DTP Director and DTP Manager, as well as with colleagues across the divisional team and partner institutions to ensure that we leverage opportunities and work together in a coordinated way.

You should be educated to degree level or equivalent. You must have experience of developing partnerships and coordinating placements or training programmes, ideally in an HE environment. The ability to work independently and take the initiative in developing new processes are essential, as are a flexible attitude and excellent communication, interpersonal and organisation skills.

This is a full-time, fixed-term role for three years.
