Fds Champion
A new challenging opportunity has arisen for an experienced project manager to join the Cancer Services team as a Faster Diagnosis Standard (FDS) Champion. The FDS Champion will work in conjunction with cancer teams across the Trust to implement service improvement projects within specific tumour groups to support early detection of cancer and enhance patient experience.
The role will require the post holder to work closely with senior managers, clinical leads and administrative staff across the organisation to ensure that optimal cancer pathways are adopted and implemented within the Trust.
Essential skills include, excellent communication skills, proven ability to lead and manage change within a large organisation, ability to achieve targets and objectives within a demanding and pressured environment against challenging deadlines. Ability to assess and evaluate project progress against agreed timescales/objectives and create and maintain appropriate information systems (eg. spreadsheets) for service improvement. Produce regular reports for performance management and improvement.
This is a demanding, but equally rewarding role for an experienced project manager with sound service improvement skills and excellent negotiation skills.
The Cancer Services team sits under the Corporate Division within the Trust.
The new Faster Diagnosis Standard (FDS) has being introduced to ensure that patients find out within 28 days of referral whether they have cancer or not. This standard has been developed to minimise the worry patients face whilst waiting for information following an urgent suspected cancer referral and ensure those patients that are diagnosed with cancer are able to access treatment in a timely manner.
Operating within a project management methodology, the post holder will develop plans, identify risks and solutions, pathway redesign, communicate clearly the vision for the project and influence behaviour change to streamline cancer pathways. The post holder will work as part of the Cancer Services Team and work closely with RM Partners (Cancer Alliance), Trust Cancer Leads, Management Teams, Clinical Teams and Multi-Disciplinary Teams to assist in the delivery of FDS related projects.
