**About the role**

The post holder will:

- Provide PPA and leadership cover
- Cover absence of staff across all age phases from Reception to Year 6
- Ensure that all work completed will be marked in line with school policy
- Liaise with the class teachers on the progress of the pupils
- Deliver interventions when not covering classes

- Have a good level of qualification, with minimum English and Maths GCSE C/5 or better

**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**Sub-Division: Primary Schools**

**JOB TITLE: Cover Supervisor**

**GRADE: G4 9-12 37 Hours per week**

**REPORTS TO**:Headteacher

**1. PURPOSE OF JOB**:
Teaching whole classes during short-term absence, PPA and Leadership time of teachers
To provide learning activities for classes under the professional direction and supervision of the class teacher.
Will need to ensure good behaviour of the pupils and make sure the pupils engage in the learning activity

**2. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES, TASKS & DUTIES**

i To deliver learning activities to pupils.

ii To supervise pupils whilst engaged in learning activities.

iii To ensure that, as best as is possible, learning objectives set by the teacher are achieved

iv To respond appropriately to questions raised by pupils

v To ensure inclusion and acceptance of all pupils in the class in order to promote equal opportunities

vi To mark work according to the feedback and marking policy

vii To act as a role model and set high expectations of conduct to ensure that good behaviour is maintained

viii Keep appropriate records, as agreed with the teacher, to enable objective and accurate feedback to the teacher and pupils on conduct of the lessons

ix To deal with immediate problems and emergencies in accordance with the school’s policies.

x To follow and implement the school’s behaviour policy.

xi Support the development of the learning environment.

**3. MANAGEMENT OF PEOPLE**
Assist in the supervision and deployment of Teaching assistants and one to one support staff within the classroom

**4. CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION**
a) Contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school. b) Attend and participate in meetings as directed.

c) Participate in training and other learning activities as required. d) Recognise own strengths and areas of expertise and use these to advise and support others. e) Assist in the supervision, training and development of staff

**5. CONTACTS AND RELATIONSHIPS**
a) Establish constructive relationships and communicate with other agencies/professional, in liaison with the appropriate school staff, to support achievement and progress of pupils. b) Supervise pupils on visits, trips and out of school activities as required.
