We fix, audit, report, recommend and manage works to support our client's operations and compliance.
At the heart of what we do is to develop an understanding of client requirements and deliver high service levels by knowing the sites we work on in detail. We provide in depth reporting and advice that gives true value for the customer.
We have nationwide coverage with our central offices based in Doncaster, South Yorkshire. We are looking for a Asset and Fleet Supervisor to work within our team.
The main focus of the Asset and Fleet Supervisor is accountability for the efficient running of the workshop housing all tools, equipment and vehicles. Ensuring accuracy in inventory controls and “just in time” supply of assets to the operating field teams.
You’ll be expected to take on multiple tasks as well as personally solving issues with any equipment or vehicles that happens on the day including transporting vans, materials and equipment around the UK to keep the field engineering team productive.
Part of the role will include basic vehicle maintenance and organising or carrying out van set ups.
Responsible for delivering regular toolbox talks on correct usage and maintenance of equipment and machinery to maintain it at optimum life and performance in the field.
You will be working in conjunction with Field Team Managers, Supervisors, and the Customer Support Team providing accurate information on assets and supporting with any queries on status and availability. You’ll at times be deputising for the Asset and Fleet Manager and stepping up in their absence.
You’ll be comfortable working independently at pace with little or no supervision. Well organised, flexible, calm under pressure and enjoy the challenges of supporting an operations team across the UK. Be flexible and adaptable to take on other or different work outside the core remit to support the Operations Team.
Majority of working time will be spent in the workshop with frequent heavy lifting including using forklift trucks.
Full driving Licence required.
Occasional stays away from home.
Occasional out of hours cover in cases where urgent access is required to the workshop.
Key Responsibilities
- Accepting, checking, storing and recording deliveries to the workshop
- Preparing tools and equipment for specific jobs, checking quality and working order of equipment before issue and on receipt back from operatives
- Enforcing and maintaining control measures for inventory in and out of the workshop
- Induct new colleagues on all aspects of equipment controls and deliver refresher training periodically
- Deliver practical training on HSE compliance on good practice in looking after tools and equipment to ensure optimum performance and minimum breakdowns or replacements.
- Work with purchasing co-ordinator to identify and implement cost saving initiatives
- Analysing and reporting on single incidents or trends of poor maintenance, misuse, and losses of any assets
- Reporting on feedback from field operatives on issues or ideas for better performance and continuous improvement in asset and fleet
- Give practical advice and problem solve when engineers report failures on vehicles and equipment
- Ensuring all equipment is maintained, arranging servicing, calibration, and repairs
- Maintaining compliance of stock storage according to regulations, e.g., COSHH
- Secure storage of high value items
- Ensuring a robust process for return of assets when colleagues exit the business
- Making decisisons and setting boundries with field teams on expectations on workshop allocations of equiptment and machinery
- Report to the Asset and Fleet Manager on recommendations for new and / or changes to vehicles and equipment in order to ensure that the team have the tools required to perform their work to the optimal standard
- Work with purchasing to advise on requirements for workshop stock
- Arranging and tracking of equipment used internally within the business, including where relevant hire equipment
- Working with the Fleet administrator to arrange repairs and services of fleet vehicle including hire transport requirements
- Ensure all waste regulations are adhered to and any stored waste is disposed of in a timely manner
- Identifying areas of best practise to implement within the warehourse
- Warehouse standards, one product one place tidiness ensuring regular cleansing of clutter and archiving or disposal of materials
- Adherence to and lead on standards including health, safety, quality and environmental systems
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 5 years experience working in the drainage industry
- Working Knowledge of civils groundworks and equipment
- Able to multitask, prioritise
