**Role purpose**

In June 2020, Aesop released our 2030 Sustainability Vision Commitment to Life. This roadmap established our commitments and actions over the next ten years to appropriately address the climate and nature crisis, ensure equity and inclusion and transform our business model from a linear to a circular system The creation of this role presents a unique opportunity to develop and deliver of our Sustainability strategy and 2030 Commitment to Life ambitions; enable internal functions to enhance their Sustainability capability and outcomes; work collaboratively with stakeholders across Aesop. This role will also focus on enhancing our customer facing communications with transparency and integrity as well as secure cross-functional alignment on key metrics and achieve cross-functional ownership towards sustainability goals.

Whilst leading a small team directly, this role also has responsibility to influence and be the voice for Sustainability at Aesop across the broader organisation.

Role responsibilities include, but not limited to
- Deliver Commitment to Life ambitions and commitments at or ahead of schedule
- Deliver full circularity of packaging commitment in partnership with Product team, to timeline agreed by Sustainability Steering Committee with support from the Circular Innovation and Design lead
- Develop plan and pathway, coordinating stakeholders across the business, to deliver 2030 Net Zero agenda with support from the Climate Action Sustainability Manager
- Develop investments and collaborative actions in Regenerative Solutions (in partnership with Strategy, Giving, Supply Chain and/or Product)
- Partner with Marketing to enhance our internal and external communications and conversations around Sustainability (Social, Environmental, and Diversity Equity Inclusion commitments and actions)
- Partner with HR and Supply Chain to embed and ensure our Human Rights and Human-Kinds commitments are delivered to timeline agreed by Aesop leadership team (at or ahead of Group 2030 timeline), including addressing gender equality, delivering Diversity Equity and Inclusion targets
- Partner with Supply Chain and Product teams to deliver Commitment to Life agenda around biodiversity, biodegradability, natural / renewable ingredients, and Supply Chain codes of conduct
- In partnership with GM Strategy & Growth, and the Sustainability Steering Committee, develop strategic plans and roadmaps to deliver commitments across the business
- Chair the ESG Committee and Sustainability Committees and manage overall governance of the sustainability programme
- Build profile, impact and understanding of Sustainability across all our Aesop internal and external stakeholders
- Manage internal and external sustainability reporting including the Aesop Sustainability Report and Modern Day Slavery Statements
- Maintain B Corp status and increase recertification score
- Oversee EPR packaging compliance

This is a full time position operating with a hybrid working pattern. This role can also be considered as a 12 month Fixed Term Contract.

- Management and leadership experience, ideally both direct and across matrix-managed projects
- Excellent technical and quantitative skills (data fluent)
- Experience with GHG, emissions management and Net Zero programs
