We are currently looking for a Head of Procurement to join our team at our Head Offices in Abergavenny.

**Role Responsibility**:
As the Head of Procurement, you will lead procurement for all sectors of the Griffiths business in order to deliver best value, high quality, innovation, collaboration, risk reduction and opportunity optimisation in the required timescales for projects. The Procurement Team under the leadership of the Head of Procurement are responsible for supporting multiple sites in all procurement in relation sub-contract packages and material sourcing within a civil engineering working environment. Sourcing both nationally and internationally, negotiating with existing and new suppliers.

The Head of Procurement is accountable for (but not limited to) the implementation and continuous improvement of the company’s procurement processes and procedures. The role holder will be expected to demonstrate leadership and people management skills, to deliver efficient procurement to tenders and to all projects across the Griffiths sectors.

On a day to day basis, the successful Head of Procurement's duties and responsibilities will include (but are not limited to) the following:

- Support Griffiths’ business strategy and business plans, working closely with the team to roll-out key initiatives and achieve the organisation’s strategic goals.
- Manage and support a team of Buyers. This will include people management interventions such as performance management, individual focus reviews, manpower planning and the continuous professional development of the team.
- Mentor and coach the procurement team members in line with company values and behavioural competencies, to maximise the potential of both the team and the individuals.
- Manage and control implementation and operation of Griffiths’ Procurement Policy and Protocol.
- Develop, implement, maintain and improve supply chain engagement that are congruent with various construction contracts.
- Liaise with the Head of Pre-Construction and Head of Estimating to agree Procurement Team involvement in design meetings, product selection, obtaining quotations for cost certainty and supply chain development at Tender stage.
- Liaise with Operations Directors, Contract Managers and delivery teams to identify and agree project specific procurement requirements. Allocate and manage procurement resource to meet these needs to ensure post contract duties are fulfilled including setting up supply chains for subcontract packages, timely and effective processing of requisitions.
- Support the procurement team and delivery teams, to provide comprehensive procurement advice, guidance and the necessary information to delivery teams, to support the successful commercial approach to sub-contracts and material procurement.
- Work closely with the Commercial Directors and members of the Commercial team, monitoring all aspects of procurement to ensure best value is achieved on projects and commercial reporting requirements are met. Ensuring risks are minimized through the procurement process and that contract preparation and execution by sub-contractors is undertaken in line with Company requirements.
- Establish procurement monitoring and reporting procedures consistent across all projects including reporting for monthly supply chain approval compliance.
- Strive for continuous improvement and efficiencies within the procurement team and leading the implementation of value engineering to meet budgets and suggest cost saving initiatives.
- Be familiar with the use of Construction Line and liaison with SHEQ Team in the assessment of supply chain
- Be familiar with estimating software (Causeway) and ERP System (COINS), managing the use of these within the Procurement Team.
