**About the role**:
The NATO Submarine Rescue System (NSRS) is a tri-national submarine rescue system. The system provides a rescue capability primarily to the partner nations of France, Norway and the UK, but also to NATO and allied nations and to any submarine equipped with a suitable mating surface around its hatches.

The Submarine Rescue Vehicle (SRV) Deputy Supervisor plays a key role in the delivery of operational capability of NSRS of rescue readiness of NSRS. Supporting the SRV Supervisor, the Deputy Supervisor will be responsible for the material state of the SRV, including maintenance.

The Deputy Supervisor will support the mobilisation and conduct operations of the SRV at sea adhering to JFD and NSRS policies, processes and procedures.

In a Distressed Submarine (DISSUB) emergency the SRV Deputy Supervisor will be called upon to mobilise NSRS SRV.

The role will also involve dealing with suppliers working with JFD, the NSRS customer or other sites.

**Your key responsibilities will also include**:

- Responsible for serviceability of the SRV, working with the SRV Supervisor and wider maintenance team, inclusive of planned/scheduled and corrective/unscheduled maintenance, defect (i.e. DRACAS) and obsolescence reporting in accordance with OEM instructions, JFD processes and procedures.
- Responsible for Mobilisation of the SRV through all phases and in particular load out of the system from the base facility, embarkation of the Rescue Systems onto a vessel, commissioning of the SRV be prepared for operations.
- Responsible to fulfil all aspects of the SRV Supervisor should the Supervisor be absent for a prolonged period of time i.e., data entry, recording of maintenance activities, stores request demands, attendance at meetings requiring Subject Matter Expert (SME) guidance/support, report writing, leadership/mentoring of Rescue Service Technicians (RST)/trainee.
- Adhere with JFD all safety and security mandates, processes and procedures to ensure the safety of personnel and equipment.
- Conduct any other task as reasonably requested by the NSRS and JFD Management Team.
- As a member of the SER team, provide support a real life (Disabled Submarine (DISSUB) emergency.

**What do you need?**
Skills & Experience:

- Skilled technician in one or multiple of electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, hyperbaric specialisms.
- Holds a recognised technical and or engineering qualification.
- Ability to obtain/hold STCW qualifications and ENG1.
- Familiarity with Quality systems (ISO 9001).
- Experience of Hyperbaric activities.
- Be familiar with working to marine and defence standards.

In addition - Ideally you will have previous experience of commercially sensitive projects.
- Public Service/defence/offshore background.
- Familiar with international Quality and Safety standards (ISO 9001, 45001 etc.).
- Familiar with working to facilities and defence standards (DEFSTAN etc.).
- Experience in the Management of Safety.
- Experience in instructional techniques & operations with high pressure systems.
- Worked in commercial or military submarine rescue.
