We are looking for a cheerful, conscientious and adaptable person to join our team providing clerical support within the Reception area of the Endoscopy Department.

Applicants should have excellent communication skills, be self-motivated and able to make full use of the computer systems after training. A willingness to learn and the ability to remain calm under pressure are essential attributes applicants will require for this post.

This is a very busy area and provides a focal point for receiving patients, visitors and staff to the department. You would be joining a dedicated administrative team that supports patient care.

You will need to be able to work in a calm, logical and methodical way but be able to multi-task whilst dealing with frequent interruptions, and you must possess excellent communication skills.

You should have good keyboard skills and previous experience in a healthcare setting would be an advantage. You will be required to have a good level of education and have experience in Administration and Clerical duties with good customer care skills. The successful post holders will be expected to cover colleagues in times of sickness and annual leave. Full training will be given on IT systems.

This role is full time - 37.5 hours per week (work pattern can be negotiated)

To greet and receive and direct patients, carers and visitors at reception desks in line with Trust procedures.

Answer the telephone in accordance with Department procedure.

To understand the complete range of administration functions, responsibilities, and duties both routine and non-routine to contribute to the effective delivery of patient care, through knowledge of hospital systems and consultant practice.

Register patients in accordance with departmental policy.

To maintain and update the Patient Administration System (PAS) following training using training manual and procedures supplied.

To prepare for upcoming endoscopy clinics, creating episodic folders/legacy notes, tracering of files.
