**HSE Advisor**

Caudwell Marine (CM) is a start-up business backed by the billionaire and philanthropist John Caudwell and is developing an innovative, patented outboard motor for launch in 2023.

The CM organisation is a small, experienced team of people who are passionate about successfully bringing this technologically leading outboard motor to market. Each team member has a ‘hands on’ approach and supports each other for the benefit of the programme.

The HSE Advisor Projects will work in conjunction with the Caudwell team and other stakeholders to provide a high standard of support to the business in the pursuit of our ambitious targets and objectives. The post holder will work with the team in maintaining the HSE Management System in accordance with legislative requirements, ISO accreditation standards and business needs.

This role is key to the successful delivery of the organisation’s outboard engine products. The individual will work directly with the Caudwell team and other parties to ensure the highest standards of HSE performance is achieved and maintained when planning and delivering these new innovative products.

The HSE Advisor will report directly to the Manufacturing Operations and Safety Director. The post holder will provide day to day technical support on all planned and reactive HSE related matters within their area of responsibility and support other team members or business functions as required. The role is based in Lowestoft and regular travel to project sites will be required.

You will be expected to take ownership of and champion the company vision, values and management system requirements in your area of responsibility, ensuring arrangements are clearly identified, monitored and improved. Ensure staff are competent for the tasks, workplaces are organised and maintained, risk assessments and safe systems of work are in place, equipment is suitable and maintained.

**Main Responsibilities**:

- Provide advice, support and guidance to stakeholders in the establishment and implementation of safe systems of work.
- Identify hazards and assess risks ensuring controls are identified and implemented.
- Identify training requirements and develop and deliver training packages and presentations.
- Develop and maintain HSE Management System procedures, documents and records.
- Plan and deliver a programme of audits and inspections in line with business needs.
- Lead and conduct investigations providing accurate findings, actionable recommendations and reports.
- Identify trends and provide actionable suggestions, recommendations and improvements.
- Plan, attend and facilitate meetings, forums and workshops aimed at improving HSE performance.
- Plan, develop and disseminate HSE related communications.
- Develop effective working relationships with team members and internal/external stakeholders.
- Participate in team planning activities.
- Plan and participate in training and development activities ensuring CPD is maintained and up to date.

**Qualifications**:

- ‘Tech’ membership of IOSH or equivalent or working towards this level of membership
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent
- Environmental qualification
- Ideally, mechanically technically qualified
- Relevant experience within manufacturing, testing or marine environments.
- Risk assessment experience.
