**Specialist 1:1 Learning Support Assistant**

**Pay: LGS Scale 5 Point 10 - Scale 6 (whole range)**

**Actual Salary: £17,747 - £20,170 per annum**

**Hours: 32.5 hours per week, 39 working weeks**

**Start Date: As soon as possible**

**Term of Contract**: Permanent (Conditional to the Year 8 child staying at Paxman Academy and\or the EHCP continuing. Should either of these conditions change then the post will cease).

We are seeking to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic and motivated learning support assistant to join our team, and provide 1:1 support for a student with a range of learning, social communication and medical needs (type 1 diabetes).

The SEN Learning Support Assistant’s (LSA) main role is to provide support for a named students with an Educational Health Care Plan. The LSA will ensure that this student is fully integrated into all aspects of school life and is making strong progress. Duties will include running specific programmes and activities to assist the student’s individual learning and social communication needs. The SEN 1:1 LSA will be responsible for implementing the targets on the Students One Plan and EHCP outcomes in liaison with the SENCO

**Hours/Weeks**:32.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (term time only plus INSET days. )

**The role is to start as soon as possible.**

**The role will involve**:

- Implement the Individual Health Plan (IHP) as regards the student’s Type1 diabetes management carrying out regular monitoring and following guidance for intervention when required.
- To develop knowledge of the particular learning needs of the child and seek advice from SENCO and outside agencies as required.
- To provide learning support for the student in class or in withdrawal situations, either 1:1 or small groups.
- To aid access to the full range of learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom and provide modified resources as suggested and advised by the SENCO, Educational Psychologist, Speech and Language Therapist, Occupational Therapist or any other outside agencies.
- To motivate and encourage the student to access all learning opportunities providing positive reinforcement.

**We're looking for you if you have**:

- Successful recent experience of working with children in a learning environment
- A good standard of education (ideally NVQ2 or equivalent);
- Be an excellent practitioner with high expectations of all students
- Have experience of providing medical and learning support on a 1:1 basis
- Be an innovative team player who is positive and proactive with good interpersonal skills
- Show an active commitment to your own Continuing Professional Development
