Catering Assistant

**Responsible for**:Serving visitors in the Museum Café

**Responsible to**: Deputy Supervisor

**Hours of Work**: 25 hours per week (Annualised)

**Salary**: £8.91 per hour.

**Main Purpose**

Reporting to the Deputy Supervisor, the Catering Assistant will be part of the team in a busy café and events operation.

**Main Duties**

To process sales transactions and deal with customer enquiries.

To assist in the smooth day-to-day running of the catering facility.

To maintain a customer focused service at all times.

To serve the customers, take payment, and deal with any reasonable queries.

To wait on tables, clean and remove litter, and to keep the front-of-house area clean as possible at all times.

To assist in the operation of the kitchen, to include general cleaning, operating the dishwashing machine, maintaining hygiene standards, and the occasional preparation of sandwich and snacks.

To be trained in front-of-house and kitchen duties wherever necessary.

To assist in the preparation for events and functions as directed by the Chef/Restaurant Supervisor.

In addition to the above duties the post holder may be asked to undertake other reasonable duties.

**Personnel Specification**

**Essential requirements**:

- Able to work independently, as well as part of a team.
- Hardworking
- Flexible (weekend work and occasional evening work).
- Personable and presentable

**Desirable requirements**:

- Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (training can be provided if not).
- Past experience in a food or hospitality setting

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 25 per week

**Salary**: £8.91 per hour
