Position: Bakery/Pastry Chef (Sourdough Specialist)
Location: Exeter Quay
Boatyard Bakery, an artisan bakery in Exeter, is seeking a talented and passionate Bakery/Pastry Chef with expertise in sourdough to join our team.
As a Sourdough Specialist, you will have a deep understanding of sourdough fermentation and its nuances. You will be responsible for maintaining and managing our sourdough starter, ensuring its health and vitality. Your expertise in creating and shaping artisan breads and pastries will be evident in the exceptional flavor, texture, and presentation of our products.
**Responsibilities**:
- Prepare and bake a range of artisan sourdough breads and pastries, showcasing your expertise in flavor, texture, and technique
- Maintain and manage the sourdough starter, ensuring its health and vitality
- Collaborate with the team to develop new sourdough bread and pastry recipes, incorporating seasonal and local ingredients
- Ensure consistent quality and presentation of all sourdough breads and pastries
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the bakery area, following food safety and hygiene regulations
**Requirements**:
- Proven experience as a bakery/pastry chef with a strong focus on sourdough and pastries
- In-depth knowledge of sourdough fermentation, including the ability to maintain and manage a sourdough starter
- Strong skills in creating and shaping artisan breads and pastries, with an emphasis on flavor and texture
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, meeting production deadlines without compromising quality
- Attention to detail and a passion for creating exceptional sourdough breads and pastries
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: £28,176.00-£29,698.00 per year
Expected hours: 16 - 40 per week
