**Project Officer**

Stonehouse Town Council is undertaking and facilitating several key community driven projects and requires a skilled administrator to assist them.

The Project Officer will contribute to the efficient running of the Town Council by providing project management, engaging with the public and playing an active part in the improvement and development of the council’s work.

The Project Officer will investigate and bid for various funding opportunities.

**Terms**:

- Reports to Town Clerk.
- 25 hours per week.
- 23 months fixed term contract.
- SCP 19, £25,927 (PRO RATA).
- 25 days’ holiday (PRO RATA)+ public, local & statutory holidays
- On-site free parking.
- Located in the Town Council offices in Stonehouse.
- Some evening and weekend working will be required.

**Management of Projects**:

- Organises and attends project meetings to take minutes, plan agendas and prepare reports in a timely manner.
- Coordinates the work of external consultants and organisations to bring about desired outcomes.
- Monitors and reports project progress, liaising with Town Councillors.
- Monitors and records budget expenditure, making payment requests to the Town Clerk and monitors progress in line with funding, making any required returns to funding bodies.
- Initiates and conducts research essential to the success of the project, including photographic, statistical, and documented evidence to support the projects.
- Any other work identified by the project group in support of its aims.
- To complete and format information, using various IT techniques, preparing correspondence, reports and other documents associated with projects of the council.
- Liaises with other tiers of local government to facilitate joint projects and involve surrounding parishes/towns.
- Prepare and undertake community consultation including producing consultation documents and display material.
- Working with and supporting community groups and/or volunteers.
- Working with the Council project working groups to ensure deadlines are adhered to and tasks completed.

**Other Duties**
- From time to time, to provide cover for other officer duties such as staffing reception, responding to public enquiries, carrying out general office work and servicing meetings.
- Any other task that may be reasonably requested by the Town Clerk.

**Essential**:
A good understanding of, and experience of, good project management:

- Proven communication, research & presentation skills.
- Self motivation, with ability to work on own initiative and accept accountability.
- Being able to make deadlines and adhere to budgetary limits.
- Good IT skills - MS Excel, Word, Outlook, Databases, and software packages.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Good numeracy skills.
- Ability to interpret information and data.

**Desirable**:
Knowledge of:

- Organising public events.
- Working in a local authority environment.
- Working with a range of community groups.
- Working with and supporting volunteers.
- The locality.
- Health & Safety obligations.
- Community development experience.
- An interest in regeneration and the environment.

**Personal Attributes**:

- Ability to manage own workload and deadlines.
- Ability to work on a number of projects at any one time and to work to changing priorities.
- Good team player, but able to work using own initiative.
- Ability to make decisions in line with a project plan and to know when to defer to others for advice.
- Ability to travel for work purposes as and when required.

**Qualifications**
- Educated to a good standard with experience of managing projects.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 23 months
Part-time hours: 25 per week

**Salary**: £25,927.00 per year
