Hours : 17hrs per week 2 over 7

Rate: £11.08 per hour

To assist the Chef in the organising and controlling the efficient and economic production of quality food.

Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in line with EHO regulations and utilise Cook Safe Policy and Procedures.

**SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS**

Required:
SVQ3 in Food Hygiene Certificate
Good communication skills
- spoken and written English essential
Team player
Ability to work on own initiative
Satisfactory PVG Record Check

Desired:
City & Guilds 706 - 1 & 2, or equivalent (achieved or working towards)
Previous supervisory experience
Experience of Food Preparation in a Care Home Kitchen Environment

**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Assist in the preparation, cooking and serving of hot and cold meals and Home Baking, in accordance with ‘National Care Standards’ and ‘Cook Safe’ as and when required.
- Provide for special dietary requirements where necessary, and take into account the preferences of individual Clients, including modified meals and therapeutic diets.
- Ensure stock rotation. Order stocks and check deliveries, and check and value stocks as required by the Manager.
- Read & React accordingly to environmental health reports.
- Assist in the planning and organising of parties/ special occasions which involve service user’s, relatives and staff
- Supervise and instruct Kitchen Staff Members in the use of all equipment and hygiene procedures, giving help and guidance where appropriate.
- Conduct basic food hygiene training for all Care Staff involved in handling and delivery of food.
- Maintain and improve professional knowledge and competence.
- Attend mandatory training days/courses, on or off site, as and when required

**Salary**: From £11.08 per hour

- 8 hour shift
- Day shift

- Certificate of Higher Education (preferred)
