We are looking for somebody to join us on the market front, working from our bakery in Bishop Auckland the successful applicant will be our front of house at market events and also responsible for delivering goods to customers. We have a weekly market at Barnard Castle and attend various farmers markets at weekends. The hours are 6AM until 3/4PM every Wednesday and 6AM until 3/4PM on various Saturdays and Sundays depending on market events. Some events are seasonal so hours can vary depending on time of year and weather. Our events occur all over the North east from Yorkshire to Newcastle.

The position involves selecting and packing the freshly baked breads into baskets and loading a van with equipment and stock. You will then drive to the market and set up your stall, we are looking for somebody with impeccable hygiene, personable skills to be able to converse with customers, you will become knowledgeable about the breads in order to offer advice on which breads the customer should purchase. You will be handling cash and will need to operate a contactless card system to take money. Responsibility and math skills are very important with this position. Once the market has finished the stall is dismantled packed back up and then returned to the bakery for a final clean down of equipment. Some markets are seasonal but you will be required to work through all four seasons.

There is often an opportunity to help out in the bakery on your return during our busiest periods.
- Clean driving license with no previous convictions essential
- Approachable friendly character to engage with customers
- Food hygiene skills important
- Cash handling skills and maths skills
- Must be able to lift heavy loads and assembly of gazebos or stalls at some market events
- Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays 6AM until approx. 4PM (20-30 hours per week)
- Wage is National living wage (£8.91 for over 23’s)
