**Overview**:
We are currently recruiting for several Catalysis Researchers to work for our client across there Laboratory / Chemistry Department, reporting into the Chief Chemist these are exciting opportunities working for a commercial productor of synthetic petroleum.

The roles will be providing expertise on the chemistry of:

- Fisher-Tropsch (F-T) reactions
- Steam Reforming Reactions
- Reverse Water Gas Shift Reactions
- Zeolites

This is a fantastic role and opportunity to be a team player working across a multidisciplinary team with who have excellent technical skills to overcome the challenge of developing synthetic fuels

**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- The role will also include assessing kinetic models to optimize the reactor and process
- Advising on catalysis options and solving problems with catalytic mechanisms
- Checking, validating and interpreting experimental data to identify optimal operation conditions and anomalous results
- Critically assessing processes, equipment and manufacturing options to achieve technical and economic optimisation
- Using Swagelok equipment for reaction rigs, as well as GC and GCMS to analyse reaction products
- Producing technical reports and presenting results to leadership teams
- Maintaining a high level of health and safety awareness and practice, particularly pertaining to high hazard chemicals and processes
- Maintain good awareness globally of the technologies/research in the pipeline to speed up the development of our synthetic fuel technology and maintain our competitive advantage for commercial production
- Generate R&D reliable and meaningful results to keep the chemistry state of the art.
- Monthly report covering work progress and
- safety (Risk Assessment, COSHH, etc.).

**Skills & Education**:

- PhD in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering (Heterogeneous Catalysis)
- Strong practical knowledge in catalyst development
- Significant experience in process chemistry or process development gained in industry and/or academia (post-doctoral)
- Experience using GC or GCMS for gas and liquid analysis
- A critical observer as well as a conceptual and analytical thinker with a demonstrated record of accomplishment of research excellence.
- Ability to identify when issues arise, troubleshoot problems, and recommend solutions
- Ability to work independently, influence others and understand the commercial relevance of work undertaken
- Demonstrate an ability to organise and run a research work with special attention to the lab safety and their associated personnel
- Sound organisational skills, problem-solving ability and a willingness to take responsibility as required, are essential

**Desirable**:

- Reactor design and reaction engineering
- Basic project management skills for planning, organizing tasks and managing priorities
- Performs given assignment within time limits and strives for high quality results
- Management or supervisory/mentoring experience is beneficial but not essential
- Strong communication skills (oral, written, presentation) as well as listening skills
- Proven experience in using high pressure equipment and solid characterisation techniques, including XRD, FTIR, TPD(R)(O), N2 physisorption, CO chemisorption, etc
