**Job description**:
Axon Moore are working with a high growth, 100 mill turnover business in Manchester city centre who are looking for an experienced Financial Controller to cover a period of extended maternity cover.

As interim financial controller, you will be responsible for managing the finance team to ensure timely and accurate preparation of the monthly/annual financial reporting and implementing procedural control over the financial operations.

**Duties**:

- Manage the roles and responsibilities of the finance team to ensure accurate, timely production of management accounts
- Develop and coach a team of 12 by ensuring each individual has monthly 1-2-1s, annual business objectives and individual development plans in place
- Lead by example to ensure continued high level of service
- Promote and support company values and behaviours and promote the company culture
- Act as the Finance leader on the Senior Management Team thus providing a Finance influence on the day to day operations in all areas of the business
- Preparation of monthly management accounts for Group, and all associated companies, together with detailed commentary and analysis of performance and key issues
- Carry out balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy of accounting
- Review supporting documentation for all journals, prepayments and accruals and maintain authorisation log
- Ensure correct accounting treatment of expense and capital payments
- Audit the completeness of financial transactions from the booking management system and cleanse the data of inaccuracies
- Understand and review the current systems and controls within Finance with a view to creating more effective reporting and increasing the influence of Finance across the business
- Ensure financial control is implemented prior to committing the company to cost and costs are managed in line with expectation
- Statutory reporting, compliance with industry regulatory bodies and HMRC regarding VAT, PAYE, Corporation tax and Income tax
- Prepare suitable and thorough working files to facilitate a smooth audit and fulfil the requirements of licensing bodies within the industry
- Account for multi-currency transactions and mitigate the foreign exchange risk monitoring costed exchange rates
- Prepare budgets and rolling forecasts which identify key factors affecting financial performance and future plans including cash resources and balance sheet factors
- VAT accounting and compliance including overseas exports and imports
- Monitor trade debtor position to ensure aged debt is targeted and cash is managed ahead of forecast

Person Specification:

- Staff management - support to 12 team members who contribute to the financial information and managing the resources of the business
- Technical Ability - Finance Qualification with at least one year post qualification experience
- Expertise in a service based industry is preferable
- Able to interview / start quickly
