Associate (L8), CPIA Disclosure Officer

What does this job involve?

Working collaboratively with a fully integrated team of investigators and lawyers that investigates and brings regulatory and/or criminal proceedings, you will:

- Creating and devising a strategic disclosure plan to meet the needs of the case.
- Creating and maintaining schedules of the unused material in preparation for trial.
- Training and managing a team of paralegals to assist with the disclosure task.
- Drafting a Disclosure Management Document.
- Assisting in the preparation of cases for trial in the Crown Court and giving evidence if required.

Required proven experience in a specific technical area or skill:

- A professional background in either law or law enforcement.
- Experience of complex criminal investigations.
- Essential criteria_

Required role-specific know-how, skills and behaviours
- Recent and relevant experience of working as a disclosure officer or with defence disclosure experience.
- Proven experience in managing disclosure in large and complex cases.
- Ability to analyse complex evidence and to take responsibility for making timely decisions based on relevant analysis.
- Sound judgement and a willingness to defend judgements as necessary and when appropriate.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Desirable criteria_

Role-specific know-how, skills and behaviours that would be advantageous:

- Recent and relevant experience of working as a Disclosure Officer.
- Previous experience of training and mentoring junior staff.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Previous experience with the use of case management systems and evidence review platforms.

Background

EMO - Enforcement
- Enforcement conducts forensic investigations into suspected misconduct and, where appropriate, pursues and remedies misconduct by firms and individuals through criminal, civil and administrative sanctions and orders including:

- Bringing criminal prosecutions and seeking penalties to deter misconduct.
- Requiring compensation to redress the consequences of misconduct, where appropriate.

The Criminal Disclosure Unit [CDU]
- The CDU is responsible for undertaking criminal disclosure exercises in accordance with the Criminal Procedure & Investigations Act 1996 and associated legislation.
- It also advises on, and ensures, that best and consistent practice is maintained in all criminal disclosure exercises within EMO.
- The Unit is also responsible for LPP risk management in all criminal investigations and in complex regulatory investigations to mitigate the risk to the organisation of Legal Professional Privilege.

- This role is graded as Regulatory Level 8 Associate.
- The salary range is £44,900 to £66,800 plus a competitive
- benefits package
and non-contributory pension
