We are looking to recruit a Theatre Assistant to our Multi-disciplinary team in a co-operative and collaborative manner to assist in the delivery of all aspects of patient care and participate in the achievement of performance outcomes.

The post is for 37.5 hours per week (part time and flexible hours can be discussed)

The role will require you to work across all areas in the Trust which may include those that are designated as positive, asymptomatic and negative COVID wards.

Evidence of certificates will be requested at interview.

To safely transport patients between operating theatres and other clinical areas.

To assist in the preparation, cleaning, maintenance and stocking of the operating department reporting promptly to the team leaders any stock deficiencies or equipment failures, which may hinder or impede the efficient provision of Theatre Services.

To provide assistance to the registered practitioners in contributing to the delivery of a high standard of patient care, by ensuring that cleaning and preparation work is undertaken to meet the service demands

Arrange for the transport and disposal of clinical, domestic, sensitive and confidential waste in accordance with Trust policy.

Assist with the preparation, identification, recording and dispatch of specimens from the theatre unit.

Assist with the collection of blood and blood products.

To participate in the management of supplies ensuring the theatre unit has sufficient levels of all essential supplies to meet the service demands

Receive and dispatch sterile supplies ensuring HSDU/CSSD schedules are completed.

Ensure that the pharmacy stock items including controlled drugs are received and stored in accordance with COSHH and Trust guidance; any in balance in stock is reported and addressed

On-Call

Please note that senior positions (AFC band 8A or above) may be expected to participate in an on-call rota, if the role is predominantly operational.
