**Job Description Crèche Leader**

Job Title: Crèche Leader

Location: L.A.S.T. Sure Start

Responsible to: Sure Start Project Manager/Line Manager

**Job Purpose - **T **o** work collaboratively with service users, local community and partner agencies to ensure the effective development, management and delivery of Crèche to children aged 0-4 years old.

**GENERAL**

1. To develop an understanding of the L.A.S.T. Sure Start ethos and to respect, be sensitive to, and supportive of, L.A.S.T. Sure Start parents and children; being active in the promotion of

L.A.S.T. Sure Start ethos at all times.

2. To be flexible, maintain confidentially and to carry out tasks that benefit the Organisation.

**Major Tasks and Responsibilities**
- To implement and co-ordinate the provision of high-quality care to children in a safe and stimulating environment.
- To provide leadership in developing and integrated programme which improves the ability to learn by encouraging stimulating play which enhances the physical, emotional & social, language and intellectual development of children.
- To ensure that all areas where children are will be prepared on a daily basis in accordance with a curriculum-based environment to cover all areas of learning.
- To develop daily programmes in advance taking into account the different ages and developmental stages of the children.
- To review plans of work in collaboration with team members so that the needs of children are catered for.
- To keep completely confidential any information regarding children their families or other information which is learnt as part of the job.
- To provide Support & Supervision, Annual Appraisals for designated staff.
- To carry out team meetings.
- To provide feedback to parents on their child’s development.
- To liaise with other professionals within the team in order to ensure all needs of the family are met.
- To carry out ongoing reflective practice.
- To communicate effectively with colleagues in the team, ensuring the support and supervision of staff in order to maintain high standards of service.
- To administer all medications, special diets and First Aid according to centre guidelines.
- To carry out ongoing observations, assessments and record keeping of all children. To ensure their individual needs are met and used to inform planning.
- To work in partnership with parents, families, local communities and other partner agencies by involving them on an ongoing basis in the work.
- To support and signpost parents/carers to Sure Start services.
- To comply with all Sure Start’s record keeping.
- To implement monitoring, and evaluation systems that will enable the Sure Start Management

Committee to monitor service levels and outcomes.
- To liaise closely with the Line Manager to effectively discharge the duties of the post.
- To ensure equipment and materials are maintained in a clean and safe condition.
- To maintain an up-to-date inventory.
- Any other duties required.

**PERSONAL**

1. To keep up to date personal records i.e. Time Sheets, Annual Leave, and Sick Leave etc.

2. To participate in support and supervision and annual appraisal to enhance personal development.

**DEVELOPMENT**

1. To support the community development ethos of L.A.S.T. Sure Start local/regional development strategy by contributing to team building events, networking with local communities, promoting the work of L.A.S.T. Sure Start whenever possible.

2. To attend and participate in Sure Start Planning Days.

3. To monitor, coach and support new staff.

**TRAINING**

1. To undertake training and development opportunities as they arise, as agreed by the Project

Manager including Team Building events.
