We are currently seeking an experienced**Finance Director**to join a well-established, family-run SME based in Shrewsbury. As a Finance Director you will be involved in all aspects of the business from day to day financial control to cashflow management, forecasting and strategic planning. It will be vital that you can communicate effectively with the senior management team, empathise with their points of view and help them understand the financial implications of their decisions.

As the company grows, there will be the opportunity to participate in phantom shares or equivalent to share in the economic gain generated

**Key duties and responsibilities...**
- Strongly contribute to the definition of the organisation’s vision and strategy
- Produce forecasts that assess the long-term financial trends and consider various scenarios around future income and new products, based on management information
- Provide financial support to senior management to help the company achieve its short and long-term objectives including raising funds and completing acquisitions
- Review reports and analyse projections of sales and income against actual figures and suggest methods of improving the planning process
- Evaluate and improve internal controls, accounting policies and procedures and monitor compliance in order to protect the assets of the group
- Report relevant financial data effectively and at the right time
- Experienced in dealing with regulatory and reporting requirements
- Ensuring that all systems are harmonious and enabling the business to move forward, specifically ensuring that the following flow correctly and match in high level trend to the financial performance of the business
- Proactive positive communication with department heads, to ensure quality motivation and information feed.
- Ensuring Sales management and staff have all the information feeds they need, and where appropriate suggest improvements or one off reports to assist. E.g. Product penetration analysis work, cost to customers to move away when lock in technology employed.
- Proactive positive communication to Board members particularly MD
- Identify any projects for acquisitions be it businesses, premises, or products trends

**Requirements**:

- Confident in listening, understanding and explaining
- Able to effectively present and explain data to the team, the Board, investors and other stakeholders (including banks, auditors, insurance advisors)
- Able to empathise and to appreciate alternative points of view and to educate and contribute, in a supportive way, to decisions that achieve organisational goals
- Able to develop individuals and teams using various techniques including mentoring and training
- Able to communicate effectively with teams
- Know when to seek management and/or specialist views and advice before acting
- Holds a recognised CCAB accountancy qualification or equivalent
- Worked in a senior financial role (FD or senior financial controller) for at least 3 years requiring hands-on involvement
- Worked with SMEs with a Board containing non-execs and/or external investors or their representatives
- Experience of acquisitions
- Used Excel regularly
- Familiar with SAP B1 (or similar) accounting software
