This is your chance to demonstrate both your understanding of how to lead and develop important news investigations and your grasp of the needs of not for profit organisations.

Unearthed is Greenpeace UK’s highly regarded investigative journalism unit. You’ll lead its work to investigate and expose environmental harm linked to the fossil fuel and food systems - as well as environmental racism and injustice. This will include developing strategy, setting the editorial agenda, overseeing a significant budget plus a wide range of resources, and managing a team of editors and investigative journalists.

This high profile role will also see you representing Unearthed internally and externally to cultivate media relationships, holding full accountability for editorial and journalistic decisions, overseeing robust risk management, ensuring that the unit’s website and social media channels remain impactful, and getting closely involved in high-value fundraising.

You will have an unbreakable commitment to exposing environmental wrongdoing matched with a strong news sense and history of producing robust investigative journalism that brings about real world change.

In exchange you’ll take over running an insurgent investigative unit with a significant budget, a team of 7 dedicated investigative journalists, a network of stringers and a powerful toolkit including undercover filming, drone technology, satellite footage, mapping, science and air pollution experts.

- Location: Islington, London. We are currently trialling a hybrid working model to enjoy the benefits of both office based and remote working. The current expectation is for staff to work from the office in Islington at least 40% of their time. Reasonable adjustments to the trial policy as well as specific office based needs will be considered for those with long term health conditions and disabilities._
