We are seeking a confident, organised and articulate person to join our Democratic Services Team. The team is responsible for managing the Council's decision-making process, maintaining and updating the Constitution and Council Forward Plan, administrating a variety of committees and providing support to Members who serve on them. The team recently won the Association of Democratic Services Officers team of the year award and is striving to continue to improve the services provided to the organisation to support the decision-making process

Trainee Democratic Services Officer will provide effective administrative support for the service including the use of new technology and work collectively with colleagues across Democratic and Member Services to ensure that the service is effectively supports meetings of the Council and its Committees, Electoral Registration and Elections, the Mayoralty and Members of the Council.

You will ideally have experience of working in an administrative role for a local authority or similar organisation with some experience of support a committee or board and taking minutes of meetings.

You will be able to demonstrate excellent customer service and communications skills as well as be proficient in the use of ICT. Training on particular software such as Issue Manager and webcasting will be provided.
