**About the role**

At Northumbrian Water we live water. Providing a wastewater treatment service that protects and enhances the environment, whilst also improving the quality of rivers and coastal waters for the benefit of the people and wildlife is invaluable. We have an exciting opportunity for you to join us and develop as a Wastewater Treatment Operative in Aycliffe and play a key role in delivering this essential service.

Working as part of a team you will be responsible for operating and controlling a number of wastewater treatment works as well as pumping stations within the wider sewerage network. Within this role you will conduct tasks in all conditions to ensure these assets operate correctly and will undertake fault-finding investigations when issues are found. You will communicate with a range of teams to ensure our sewage treatment work and pumping stations are working correctly. Full training will be provided to undertake the various technical aspects of this role.

**About you**

Our Wastewater Treatment Operatives are responsible for the day to day performance of sewage treatment works and pumping stations. Operatives carry out routine checks on our assets to ensure the sewage is treated to the correct quality. Daily inspections and process changes are completed by the operatives. Daily tasks also include regular analysis of water quality so we are looking for people who are confident interpreting data and completing lab analysis. Good problem solving skills are essential to ensure the environment is enhanced and protected. No two days are the same - you will be someone who is happy working in a team or alone with mínimal supervision and flexible enough to meet a varied workload.

We want to speak to people who can bring a good combination of technical and personal skills. Therefore, you’ll be computer literate and demonstrate the ability to interpret various pieces of information to identify process issues and optimise assets’ performance.

You’ll be a good communicator with written and verbal skills to be able to produce clear, effective and reliable information.

If you are practical and pragmatic and enjoy problem solving and being hands on, this could be a great job for you.

Please note you will need a full driving licence. In addition you’ll also need a strong focus on health and safety. The role will involve both lone working and working as part of a team with mínimal supervision in a wastewater environment. As such you will be responsible for protecting your safety and that of your colleagues, customers & suppliers at all times.
