**Position: Assistant Cheesemaker**

**General Purpose**: To assist in all aspects of production of cheese while maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and quality.

Full time position. Salary £11.00 - 12.75 per hour

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**:
Maintain high level of personal hygiene and adhere to hygiene policies at all times.

Assist in all aspects of cheesemaking which will include: prepping equipment, ladling curd, filling moulds, turning moulds, turning cheeses, coating cheeses and piercing.

Wash equipment, tools, and facilities on a daily basis.

General cleaning and maintenance of all welfare facilities including office, staff room, and toilet.

Occasional office work and filing.

Organise, assemble, and label sales orders.

Cut, wrap, price, and package cheese.

Communicate issues of quality, hygiene, and facility maintenance to manager.

Work in maturing rooms: turning, handling, and cleaning cheeses.

Groundwork, basic maintenance of machinery and facility.

Attend various Farmers Markets & trade shows on an infrequent basis throughout the year as and when needed.

**Physical Requirements**

Ability to lift 12+ kgs repeatedly throughout the day.

Ability to work standing for long periods of time.

Be able to work in cold (5C) or warm (28C), wet and humid environments for sustained periods of time.

Be able to turn 8kg cheeses for 45 minutes without stopping.

Be able to ladle a full vat of curd everyday in less than 1 hour

**Workplace requirements**

Available to work full time Monday to Friday from 7:00 - 15:00

Available to work 15 Saturdays per year

**Salary**: £11.00-£12.75 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
- Weekend availability
