**We have a great opportunity available to join the team based in Aldermaston as a Graduate Commissioning Engineer.**

**About the project
**Costain have been appointed as the principal contractor for a new defence facility near Reading. The scope of works for this project will include be the commissioning of all Building Services (M&E), including electrical, mechanical, control systems, Instrumentation, security and various external works.

**Overview of Role**
We are looking for graduate engineers to work with us on a large building services engineering project. You will provide commissioning and engineering services as part of the Costain commissioning team to ensure the delivery of a large defence project in support of the UK Continuous At Sea Deterrent (CASD).

**Please be advised that applicants for this role will need to be British Nationals due to the security nature of defence contracts and will have to go through advanced security clearance**

**Key Tasks and Responsibilities**:

- You will work alongside specialist commissioning engineers, learning and increasing your knowledge. and understanding and gaining real hands-on experience in an engineering environment.
- Taking part in Factory Acceptance Testing, Setting to Work Activities and observing Site Acceptance Tests representing the principal contractor.
- Input to commissioning documentation including reviewing FAT, STW and SAT and other commissioning documentation, including Commissioning & Acceptance plans, and Reservations.
- Take part in contractor meeting with a view to actively leading these with support from your colleagues.
- Identification of technical solutions to problems encountered on site and supporting the delivery of these.
- Actively manage and record CPD from on-the-job training and any external learning, in order to provide robust evidence for professional registration/membership and SQEP.

**Costain's Graduate Development Programme**
The programme will focus on helping you to grow your personal and leadership skills, alongside business and of course, the technical skills you will learn day-to-day on the job.

The programme is delivered in a variety of formats throughout the 2 years and will allow you to establish a network of contacts that will help and support you through your first 2 years and beyond. We expect some of our graduates to rotate after a period of 8-12 months, to another project/sector of the business to fully understand the depth and breadth of the services offered by the company.

Our line managers are fully supportive of the Graduate Development Programme and will be involved in helping you along the way.

In addition to the programme, we offer mentoring and support in every area of work, as well as a structured training programme to enable graduates to work towards achieving Chartership.

Graduates may have the opportunity to work on a number of exciting and progressive projects around the UK during the 2-year period, in sectors including nuclear, highways, rail, water, airports and tunnels.

**About you**
- You will be able to demonstrate a passion for discipline specific engineering e.g., electrical, mechanical, controls, mechatronics etc with the aim of pursuing a career as a professional engineer in a commissioning environment.
- You will be self-motivated, with a willingness to learn and develop your skills throughout your career with us.
- You will have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work individually and within a team, you should be willing to learn to work with multiple stakeholders across all levels in an organisation.
- You will be able to demonstrate an inquisitive and challenging mindset seeking to ask questions and learn from those around you.
- You need to have a flexible approach to work which will include the requirement to work off-site and cover occasional unsociable shifts
- IT literate and able to work with basic MS Office packages.
- Excellent organisation, communication, and time management skills
- Mobility to work on various projects over the 2-year programme throughout the UK
**As some of our project sites are based in remote locations, it is worth noting that you will be required to have the ability to travel to site.**
