You’ll operate strategically and help to shape the delivery of our woodland establishment, and woodland management ambitions across the land we care for.

What it's like to work here:You’ll be working with passionate people and inspiring places, with the opportunity to make a difference every day. You’ll cover portfolios across the breadth of the Midlands and East of England region and will travel to properties on a weekly basis. You’ll work with an Assistant Trees and Woodlands Adviser to support you across the region.

Your contractual location is flexible across the Midlands and East of England Region, we're happy for you to work at any of our regional hubs or properties, that are appropriate for this role and there will be an opportunity to explore and agree a hybrid working arrangement, which strike the right balance for you and the Trust.

What you'll be doing:As a key member of our Land and Nature team you’ll bring innovative thinking to our woodland creation and woodland management ambitions, helping create a local strategy for delivery. You’ll work alongside our Ranger teams to develop and deliver Woodland Management plans to help to restore existing woodland, including "Plantations on Ancient Woodland Sites"

You’ll use your knowledge and connections in the forestry industry to help us mobilise resources and build strong partnerships around our work, as well develop key woodland management and projects, ensuring that grant funded work is done in compliance with the funding requirements.

You’ll be the regional expert contributing to all other aspects of trees and woodland advice, e.g., tree safety management, tree disease, technical support for UKWAS audits and training and development for Ranger teams. You’ll also support and advise on Ancient and Veteran tree management.

Who we're looking forWe’d love to hear from you, if you have:

- Ability to deliver through teams including external contractors and colleagues
- A good knowledge of harvesting, marketing, and using timber
- A high level of technical knowledge of woodland management including arboriculture, woodland restoration, tree establishment and the care of ancient and veteran trees
- Substantial knowledge of the wildlife of trees and woods with full understanding of external issues, legislation, policy practice instructions
- Excellent consulting skills and ability to deliver a high-quality service
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Project management skills
