Kendal, Cumbria

Salary £21,314 pa (pro rata), plus great benefits

**Making a real difference to customers lives. That’s when it hits home.**
The Kendal based homelessness service has successfully made a difference to the lives of homelessness people in the North Lakes.
As our Support Worker, you’ll join a fantastic team, supporting customers with their individual needs to enable them to move on positively into independent living. Tracy, the Support Coordinator in the service, is looking forward to welcoming and supporting new colleagues into the team.
**What will your typical day as a Support Worker look like?**
- You’ll work one of four day shifts on a week-by-week basis, 8-4; 9-5; 11-7 or 12-8. We have a Concierge through the night so no night shifts at this service.
- You’ll have a Thursday and Friday or Saturday and Sunday off, depending on the shift. We’ve worked really hard to make sure that colleagues working shifts still have a positive work - life balance.
- You’ll support twelve customers with daily living activities and provide one to one support to three customers.
- No day will be the same, you’ll be supporting customers to develop their skills: cooking; budgeting; accessing community services; taking part in activities; and maintaining their tenancy. When they are ready, you’ll support them to move into independent accommodation.
- You’ll have support and guidance from the team, including a support plan with the customer’s goals, so you can monitor and encourage progress.
- The customers are at the heart of the service, so you’ll have plenty of time with our customers to support them in their goals.
- But the team agree, the best bit is changing our customers lives for the better
**It really is a great place to work**
In fact, 5th best to work in the UK (great place to work non-profit & charity organisations). And the potential for career development is available if that’s what you are looking for. In fact, our Operations Manager, James started as a Home Group Apprentice. And of course, if you’ve found your passion in Support Work, that’s great too.
**What you’ll bring**
- You’ll be passionate about supporting people to live independently and achieve their goals.
- You’ll have experience of caring for others, in a personal or work setting.
- You’ll be able to work on your own initiative, remaining calm under pressure and be resilient.
- You’ll be comfortable using a computer, nothing too technical and we’ll provide you with training on our systems.
- Willing to travel to support our customers in the community where required, using public transport or your own vehicle if you have one. We’ll pay for your expenses.
- Everything else that makes you, you
**What’s in it for you? There’s lots**
- 33 days annual leave (inc. bank holidays), rising up to 38 days. Fancy more? You can buy up to five further days
