An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Specialist Eating Disorder Service for an experienced and enthusiastic clinician to join our dynamic multi-disciplinary team to help deliver a high quality effective service to individuals with Eating Disorders.

You will be joining a very experienced, multi-disciplinary team of nurses, psychotherapists, psychologists, dietitians and medical staff. Although, you will be part of the Adult Eating Disorder Team, you will work closely with colleagues in Specialist Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, Adult Primary and Secondary Mental Health Services to ensure that individuals experience a seamless and co-ordinated approach to their care.

Previous training in a core profession (such as mental health nursing, psychology, social work, occupational therapy or dietetics) is essential. Interested individuals will also be enthusiastic, motivated and committed to driving forwards the continued development of the Specialist Eating Disorder Service. Work as part of a team in the delivery of specialist Eating Disorder Services for patients and their carers across HDUHB also working closely with colleagues in Specialist Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, ensuring effective transition between services in line with local and national policy guidance.

The post holder will work on a day to day basis and will hold a caseload of complex eating disorder cases. Work collaboratively with patients and carers to plan, implement and evaluate individual treatment plans. Undertake risk assessments and risk management for relevant individual patients and develop appropriate strategies to minimise risk. Provide specialist clinical assessment, formulation, interventions and treatment approaches consistent with the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE). Work with the MDT to ensure that admissions with high medical risks needs are managed safely as per NICE guidance and Medical Emergencies in Eating Disorders (MEED) guidance.

Undertake a leadership role within the Eating Disorder MDT and will be responsible for conducting appraisals, providing supervision and mentoring to members of the team. Provide teaching and training in Eating Disorders to health care professionals within mental health and general medical health care as required. To contribute to service development and participate in research and audit projects.

48 general practices (four of which are managed practices), 47 dental practices (including three orthodontic), 99 community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 providing Eye Health Examination Wales and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary only providers and 11 health centres;
Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services;
Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.
