NETHER GREEN JUNIOR AFTER SCHOOL CLUB

This post is for a playworker who can be available to work during our opening times and to cover sickness. Our opening hours are 7.15am-8.45am and 3.05-6.05pm every weekday, term time only - please check the Sheffield council website to see the school term dates (these are not the same as university). We understand employees cannot be expected to be available all the time for ad-hoc work. We just need someone who is flexible and who is available for several of our sessions.

Interviews are held between 3pm-6pm weekdays.

Pay Rate: £10.90 per hour plus statutory holiday pay

We hold a current pension scheme for qualifying personnel and will cover costs of training when it meets the needs of the company.

Responsibilities and Duties
- Providing full care for the children between close of school and their collection by parents and/or carers; including providing refreshments. Encouraging great play experiences.
- Assisting with moving of dining hall furniture at beginning and end of each session and cleaning of dining hall and toilets each day.
- Administering first aid as appropriate (training given).
- Assisting with toileting if needed (dependant on experience level).
- Close liaison with parents, schools and other childcare and play-related agencies.
- Attending meetings as appropriate.
- Carrying out all responsibilities and activities within an equal opportunities’ framework.
- Working within agreed policies.

- An understanding of good quality childcare
- An understanding of play and its importance
- A commitment to equal opportunities
- Ability to communicate at all levels
- Experience of working with 7-11 year olds
- Ability to meet children’s individual needs
- Ability to use judgement and common sense
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to use own initiative
- Ability to work flexibly
- Available to work all school year
- Safeguarding training (will be provided)
- Aged 18 or over

Desirable for the post
- A current first aid certificate
- Qualification in childcare but not needed for this post.
