We are currently recruiting for a permanent position based in Bradford as a Cook in Charge. In this role you will be required to undertake the preparation of the food as well as cooking for the pupils, you will also be presenting and serving meals to therequired standards and to meet the needs of the pupils.

You will be working closely with the preferred catering company to ensure a high standard of meals are prepared in a safe, hygienic, and timely manner.

**Main Duties**:

- Responsible for ensuring all school systems and procedures are implemented effectively to ensure food hygiene, health and safety standards are upheld and in line with current legislation.
- To always observe and comply with the external catering company requirements and expectations.
- To support with the implementation of recommendations given during external visits and audits that will take place throughout the academic year.
- Ensures that food is prepared in accordance with hygiene procedures, e.g., temperatures are recorded, samples are taken, and foodstuffs are stored safely and hygienically.
- To serve meals to children, colleagues and visitors with high standards of customer service in mind.
- Ensure appropriate documentation is completed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Supporting with the day-to-day supervision of the catering team to ensure the team are fully equipped with the support and expertise they require to aid the smooth running of the kitchen.

**Food Preparation and Service**:

- Supporting with menu planning and liaising closely with the preferred catering company to ensure the timely preparation of menus.
- Producing orders and maintaining stock levels to meet the school's requirements, receipt of stores, material and other items in connection with the service
- Ensuring the correct storage and use of food, materials and equipment with hygiene and food safety requirements in mind.
- Responsible for the preparation, production and serving of all food and beverages to the required standards of quality.
- Ensures sufficient food supplies throughout the service period.
- To liaise closely with the SBM and other school colleagues to ensure any special catering requirements and allergies are factored into the food preparation process.
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of food for special functions & special days.
- To report all product and supplier problems to the SBM and/or the external catering company.
- To support the effective and smooth running of the kitchen, including completing general kitchen and cleaning duties as required.
- Being mindful of and ensuring the team supports with the monitoring of waste and portion control.
