Experienced Detection Dog Trainer

The Detection Dog Trainer will be responsible for training and conditioning dogs for detection work. With our most common scents being drugs, explosives, but other targeted items may be required from time to time.
This role involves designing the dog’s training programs, working closely with dogs to develop their detection skills, maintaining their health and well-being, and ensuring their readiness for fieldwork through environmental exposure.
**Duties involved;**
- Ensure the health and welfare of dogs is maintained to company standard.
- Maintain and ensure safe handling of training samples.
- Train a group of up to 8 green dogs to meet to clients’ specifications.
- Complete detailed real time training records for the dogs.
- Comply with company policies and procedures.
- Conduct risk assessments as required.
- Maintain vehicle, equipment, and project equipment.
**Required**
- Proven experience of training Detection Dogs to either DSTL, FREDD or NCTAS-P level
- Computer literate.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work alone and effectively problem solve.
- Full UK driving license, with no more than 6 points.
- Full police background checks will be conducted in addition to DBS check (for licencing purposes).
**Desired**
- National Association of Security Dog Users (NASDU);
- Level 4 Explosives
- Level 3 Drugs
- NASDU Instruct and Train.
- Prior Police, Military or Gov Agency dog training qualification.
- Experience and understanding of training Fire Investigation and Search and Rescue Dog is a bonus.
Pay: £30,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
