We have an exciting opportunity for a **Senior People Partner** to join our passionate, commercial and fast paced HR team. Reporting into the People Director - High Street you will partner with the Stores Director and their Senior Operations Team to drive people capability, engagement and strategic initiatives as part of the HR business plan.

**What you’ll do**:
As a key ambassador for our Stores HR team you’ll be responsible for creating, designing and implementing our stores vision and strategy forwards. You will be passionate about HR and have previous experience of delivering and leading large, complex change management and transformational change programmes and providing comprehensive HR Support; whilst understanding that everything we do is to ensure our customers experience is second to none. Acting as a point of escalation for our Employee Relations and HR Management teams you’ll be comfortable providing specialist ER advice, guidance and best practice as well as generalist knowledge.

Working with our Senior Leadership Teams across Store Operations you will design and plan the strategy for our HR roadmap, challenging thinking, ways or working and processes to create the best in class HR service at WHSmith. To compliment this you’ll need to be confident influencing senior business stakeholders. Using data and analytics you’ll drive longer term thinking and decision making, able to articulate, present and clearly define insight and actions from data analysis.

To fulfil this role, you will need to be able to travel throughout the UK and commute roughly two days per week in our Swindon Head Office. **Who we’re looking for**:

- Previous experience in a Retail / FMCG / Hospitality / Leisure HR function - or a similar industry that is fast paced, complex and consistently changing
- Strong experience of managing senior business stakeholders providing insightful business partnering, influencing and challenging where appropriate.
- The ability to create and drive a strategic HR vision, with strong project management/change management experience.
- Strong Employee Relations background and experience managing TUPE, Disciplinary, Grievance, Redundancy
- Ability and experience understanding the intricacies of providing HR support to a highly fast moving retail environment
- Personal strength and resilience. A ‘can do’ philosophy will be essential for success.
- CIPD Level 7 qualified would be a benefit but is not essential
