**Principle Purpose of Post**

We are recruiting for a new Artist Tutor to teach Introduction to Ceramics from Autumn 2023.

The course is scheduled to run on Saturdays, 10am to 12pm.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about ceramics and enjoys teaching their craft. You are required to be reliable, personable, and flexible to cater for each student’s personal goals and aims.

**Overall Job Purpose**

To deliver tuition as part of MAC’s Learning & Participation programme, with additional responsibilities as follows
- Devising clear lesson plans and course structure to enable progression of learning, and the ability to adapt to each participants needs.
- Ensuring the course is delivered as per the course description Introduction to Ceramics (CE109 Autumn) | Midlands Arts Centre (macbirmingham.co.uk)
- Teaching beginner and improver level Ceramics techniques.
- Preparation ahead of the course for equipment and technical requests liaising with the Learning Team.
- Continuous reflection and evaluation on the course, and quality of delivery.
- Work within MAC’s policies with specific attention to Safeguarding and Health & Safety.

**Essential**
- Previous experience in teaching Ceramics & technical knowledge of specialist equipment.
- Be able to provide a stimulating learning experience that enables participants to achieve their creative potential.
- Educated/experienced to a suitable level in your art form.
- Proven ability to communicate well with a range of people using varied communication methods.
- A passion and commitment to the Arts.
- A commitment to further your skills and knowledge in participatory arts, including attending meetings, participating in training, and reflecting on your practice.
- A recent Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check or the ability to pass an Enhanced DBS check.
- An understanding of and commitment to MAC’s key objectives.

Desirable
- Experience of working with children with additional needs and/or vulnerable adults.
- Knowledge of other creative art forms which may help us expand our Ceramics & Sculpture offer at MAC.
