**The Vacancy**
We are currently recruiting for a Machine Setter based at our Bodmin site on a rotating shift pattern (Week 1 Monday to Friday 5.00am - 15.00pm) ~ (Week 2 Monday to Friday 6.45am - 16:45pm)
**Job purpose**
Machine setters play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and accurate operation of machines. They need to have a solid understanding of machine mechanics, technical skills, and the ability to interpret and follow instructions accurately. They must also possess problem-solving skills to address any issues that may arise during the setup process.
A machine setter is a skilled worker who is responsible for setting up and configuring machines for specific tasks. Their main role is to prepare machines for production or operation by adjusting various settings and parameters.
**Key Accountabilities:
- **
- Reading and interpreting job instructions or work orders.
- Selecting the appropriate tools, materials, and machine attachments for the job.
- Adjusting machine settings such as speed, feed rate, pressure, temperature, or any other relevant parameters.
- Loading and positioning materials, components, or workpieces in the machine.
- Aligning and securing the materials or workpieces according to specifications.
- Conducting test runs to ensure the machine is functioning properly and producing the desired output.
- Monitoring the machine's performance during operation and making necessary adjustments or troubleshooting any issues that arise.
- Documenting the machine settings and any adjustments made for future reference.
- Collaborating with other team members, such as machine operators or engineers, to optimize machine performance and ensure product quality.
- Ensure the machines and line runs to optimum efficiency by investigating downtime and ensuring corrective action is implemented through SIC (Short Interval Control) reviews and PPM Systems.
- Attend daily Tier 1 meetings report ongoing issues so can be rectified while also working with the team to resolve.
- Help the line team to ensure that general line tasks are carried out to a high standard, including packing and assembling goods onto pallets for dispatch.
- Endeavour to keep waste levels (Packaging, Yield, Time) to an absolute minimum and continuously work to reduce these levels.
- Cleaning and maintaining machinery and work areas to be always at a high standard.
- Conducting product changeovers using the SMED method to insure completed in the targeted time.
- You must have full understanding of the sites Food Safety, HACCP, QA and Hygiene Standards whilst also carrying out safety checks or risk assessments when required.
- Proactively identify and resolve any issues on the line / machines to ensure they are resolved in a timely manner.
- Ensure understanding of KPIs to enable you to work towards these as an individual while also encouraging the production team.
- Understand the customer standards and specifications for each product to ensure the line minimises any complaints or rejections by always maintaining the quality of product and packaging.

- Operation of the Slicer and other machinery
- Good Mechanical Background
- Flexible working attitude to ensure the line is covered in roles where required
- Proactive with a positive attitude
- Self-motivated with the ability to work with mínimal supervision.
