**FIREFIGHTER - KIRKWALL AIRPORT**

- Starting salary whilst undergoing initial training is **£28,707**:

- Once you have completed your initial training and gained an HGV driving license you will progress to **£30,434**:

- For every night you are rostered to be on call you will receive **on call allowance** and if called out, you’ll receive pay (at overtime rates where applicable).

When you start, you’ll undertake a comprehensive training package which is just the beginning of your career long learning. The work you’ll do is varied and interesting. Being prepared at all times is crucial so you’ll take part in regular training and emergency planning and response activities. At Kirkwall you may also need to undertake water rescues.

It’s really important that you have a flexible approach and attitude to your work, are willing to work shifts, including weekends and be prepared to do occasional short-term detachments in other airports.  The emergency response nature of our work involves working “on call” at Kirkwall airport where you may be needed day or night to deal with an emergency.

- Kirkwall: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Education**:

- GCSE or equivalent (preferred)
