Are you eager to learn and ready to kick-start your career? Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council are looking for the next generation of talented individuals that can deliver quality services to the residents of Blackburn and Darwen and help us grow into a prosperous borough.

We know that studying at college and university isn’t for everyone. An apprenticeship offers you a great opportunity to gain a qualification whilst earning a wage and without accumulating the debts associated with study. Real work experience is crucial as you start to build your career and by the end of your apprenticeship you will have at least two years’ of working in a nurturing environment. We also have an excellent record of retaining our apprentices beyond their apprenticeship course, securing permanent roles for those wanting to stay in the council.

Your starting salary will be £7.49 an hour in your first year. During your second year you will remain on this amount or the minimum wage for your age, whichever is higher. We can also offer you 26 days annual leave plus bank holidays, an excellent pension and a number of discounts including gym membership.

**APPRENTICE - Early Years Business Support**

We are looking to recruit a business support apprentice who is enthusiastic and self-motivated person to join our team working across our network of children’s centres.

This role is based in our children centres and will be required to have good interpersonal skills and comfortable communicating with a range of people from service users to external suppliers. The role involves working alongside other skilled administrators, fulfilling a range of clerical duties, which will include word processing, updating databases, photocopying, and more so the ability to multi-task as a must

You would need a friendly and approachable manner and can work with people of all ages and a diverse community. We would expect a high level of customer care and welcoming approach for our children, families and centre users.

Our children’s centres offer high quality childcare for babies and children up the age of 5, and offer a number of services ranging from ante natal classes, midwifery appointments, breastfeeding support, and child development clinics.
