Job Title: Technical Buyer

Job Summary:
**Responsibilities**:
1. Vendor Management:

- Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, and delivery performance.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key vendors, negotiating terms and agreements to ensure optimal pricing and favourable contract terms.

2. Technical Specification Compliance:

- Collaborate with engineering teams to understand and interpret technical specifications for fasteners.
- Ensure that all purchased fasteners meet required industry standards and specifications.

3. Market Research:

- Stay informed about market trends, pricing, and new product developments in the fastener industry.
- Conduct regular market analysis to identify potential cost savings and efficiency improvements.

4. Cost Management:

- Develop and implement cost reduction strategies while maintaining or improving product quality.
- Monitor and analyse supplier performance to identify opportunities for cost savings.

5. Collaboration:

- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, sales and quality to understand project requirements and coordinate procurement activities accordingly.

6. Order Management:

- Oversee the entire procurement process, from order placement to delivery, to ensure timely and accurate fulfilment of orders.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and delivery schedules.

Qualifications:
Essential
- Proven experience as a Technical Buyer in the industrial/engineering industry or a related field.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- ‘Can do’ attitude as duties may expand out of the purchasing area
- Good working knowledge of MS Office
- Own transport (due to office location)

Advantageous but not essential
- CIPS Qualification
- Familiarity with Sage 50.
- In-depth knowledge of fastener technical specifications, industry standards, and materials.
