**Location: Remote (Occasional Travel to Office)**

**As a Finance Business Partner your main responsibilities would be to**:

- Work within the Defra Finance, Natural England team, you will have responsibility across a specific Strategic Programme and Department for financial advice and planning.
- Provide strategic support to the relevant Chief Officer and Strategic Programme Director and related stakeholders for your area of responsibility to help shape and influence plans.
- Manage a small team of Finance Business Partners ensuring the provision of an effective Business Partnering service to a Strategic Programme and Directorate that drives business outcomes through excellent service and strong stakeholder relationships.
- Develop a good understanding of the areas of the business that you support, build, and maintain strong relationships at a senior level and be highly visible.
- Bring insight and influence to bear through effective advice, presentation, and communication, enabling finance to be considered in strategic, policy, commercial and operational decisions at all key stages, so being at the heart of planning and decision making.
- Provide insightful financial analysis, provide constructive challenge, and ensure that financial governance, control, and alignment is maintained.
- Protect, drive and add value - You will build trust with decision makers so that your advice is actively sought; the FBP is expected to be a critical friend, giving sound financial advice while challenging existing assumptions.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, to ensure that good practice is identified, shared, and developed between FBPs, that consistency of approach is adopted and to build and embed financial capability and understanding across the organisation.
- You will be respected for your financial knowledge and skill, providing sound advice, and ensuring the business adheres to relevant finance policies.
- The role is equally about leadership, relationship, and information management as it is about financial technical skills.

**You will have relevant experience in**:

- Excellent financial control experience and good analytical skills.
- Experience reviewing business cases.
- Qualified with CCAB, CIMA or equivalent - Working towards qualification.
- Strong Stakeholder engagement and management skills.
- Confident communication and can deliver sophisticated financial concepts to a varied audience, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to challenge people in a constructive way.
- Preparing and producing financial plans and management accounts.
- Building relationships comes naturally to you, helping you to craft and define new partnerships in new areas of the business.
- Embracing and delivering change is one of your strengths and you enjoy supporting others by developing fit for purpose communications in line with the business requirements.
