**The Role**

Working as part of our skilled Facilities team, the Mechanical Maintenance Operative will support with general labouring and maintenance duties and assist other trades jobs as required.

As a **Mechanical Maintenance Operative**, you will:

- Support and assist the mechanical team on general mechanical & plumbing maintenance tasks, daily checks, minor construction projects and general daily duties
- Maintain a due diligence in terms of your own personal health and safety, and for those around you
- Maintain the standards of the team and strive to improve within your capability
- Achieve personal targets and make efficient use of time and material resources
- Be part of the team and contribute proactively within your capabilities

**The Package**
- Salary of £21,820.85 per annum (during fixed term contract)
- 40 hours per week, working predominantly 07:30 - 16:10, Monday to Friday. There may also a requirement to work weekends on occasion to support the operations of the zoo
- 33 days annual leave per calendar year
- Staff pass so you can visit the zoo during your time off plus a number of complimentary tickets for your family and friends
- Access to emergency assistance programme (EAP)
- Free travel to and from work using the X1 bus service from Chester or Ellesmere Port stations
- Employer contributory pension scheme

**Our Requirements**
- Very basic skills and understanding of the building industry, with a willingness to learn
- The ability to solve problems and adhere to health and safety guidelines
- Self-motivated, resourceful, flexible approach to work
- Capable of working as part of a team
- Courteous and respectful, especially considering our busy, public facing environment
- Good communication skills
- Willing to undertake training to improve skills and for self-development
