We are currently looking for a skilled, highly motivated individual to join our Legal Team as a Presenting Officer.

**Purpose and Main Duties**

This is an exciting time to join the team, as we are changing the way we deliver Fitness to Practise (FtP) processes so that we are ready for regulatory reform. This includes developing a more frontloaded approach to our investigations by obtaining final witness statements, expert opinions and reports before the case is considered by our Investigating Committee. As a Presenting Officer you will play a key role, within the newly formed Legal Team, in supporting Fitness to Practise committees to reach accurate and well-reasoned decisions.

The main purpose of the role is to prepare and present Fitness to Practise cases for various types of hearings (including interim orders, reviews, consent and restoration hearings) to a high standard and in compliance with the legislation, policies and guidance which govern our work.

In addition to presenting cases, Presenting Officers will work closely with Case Managers in the Fitness to Practise department, and provide support on the management of all casework stages in preparation for hearings.

Some primary duties and responsibilities include:

- Ensuring all papers and bundles are served to the HCPTS and registrants in advance of hearings.
- Preparing skeleton arguments for hearings taking place before fitness to practise committees on the papers.

You will be a strong negotiator, able to communicate professionally with parties to a case from all backgrounds to ensure that fitness to practise proceedings are conducted expeditiously and to a high standard. Your excellent planning and organisational skills will mean you are able to effectively prioritise your preparation for, and attendance at hearings. Strong analytical and critical examination skills will mean any issues which may affect the progress of a hearing are successfully resolved or escalated as appropriate.
