Hertfordshire Community Trust are currently seeking a Special School Nurse to join their team on a temporary basis. Working hours for this role will be 8.30am - 5.30pm term time only Monday to Friday. The main purpose of the role is to provide specialistschool nursing services for children and young people with learning and physical disabilities within special schools, demonstrating excellent evidence-based health care interventions. Inparticular to undertake the role of planning, implementing, and monitoringchildren's health needs within school.

**What you will be responsible for**
- Provide nursing care to children in school as and when this is required.
- With colleagues from School Health, organise and participate in the yearly immunisation programme.
- Participate in the process of assessment, development and maintenance of individual care plans and protocols undertaking practical aspects of the programmes where required.
- Ensure the smooth running of clinics within the school working in partnership with Community Paediatricians, dieticians, eyes teams, children's community nurses, also ensuring good communication with other professionals and families as appropriate.
- Provide training to education colleagues ensuring care plans and protocols are adhered to.
The role will involve, but not limited to you performing the above.
**You will have the following qualification/experience**:
- A minimum of 6 months paid experience in a similar role for a UK hospital within the last 3 years
- Comply with NMC Professional Registration and keep up to date with current nursing practices
- Ensure accurate records are kept in accordance with CHS policy and NMC guidelines
- Undertake regular mandatory training*
- Full UK driving licence and own vehicle.
**Depending on the Trust, you may require variable additional certification and skills.**
