The Faculty of Engineering and Design requires a highly skilled, adaptable and self-motivated Technical Specialist to provide technical support in the Faculty Services Structures and Materials laboratories.

**About the role**:
The successful applicant will be responsible for providing technical advice and support to academic and research staff in the structures and materials laboratories. You will be responsible for the operation, use and maintenance of the laboratory’s materials testing equipment. These include static and fatigue structural testing, tensile and compression testing, a range of non - destructive testing equipment including the departmental CT scanner, with training for the equipment provided as necessary.

You will work closely with the Senior Materials Preparation Technician, providing support in specimen preparation and analysis. You’ll also be required to support undergraduate and postgraduate students, both in the use of testing machines and through teaching activities within the department.

This exciting opportunity will allow you to work with the next generation of engineers, supporting our student automotive race teams including both mechanical and electric powered race cars and our electric motorcycle team, providing both technical and manufacturing support.

**Further information**:
This role is a full time (36.5 hours), permanent position. We will consider flexible working but please be aware the role is campus based, therefore hybrid and home working are not applicable to this position.
